Just a couple examples of simple wedding cakes. We can add and subtract to these basic designs to fit your vision.

We have some new art here at the patisserie , so I thought now would be a great time to talk about the artist.

Jennifer Herd is a graphic designer and illustrator working in Toronto and a friend of ours from University. She has not only done all the art work for the store but she is also the one responsible for our logo, business cards and stamp.

We were honoured to be invited by Suresh  Doss of Spotlight Toronto to participate in what we hope is the first of many local wine events. Wineries such as Ravine, Norm Hardie, Nyarai Cellars Rosewood, Chateau Des Charmes and Rosehall Run were all present to introduce all of us to their very fine products.

Suresh dropped of a few choice bottles and asked us to use our imagination.
This is what we came up with:

1. Rosehall Run Rose Strawberry Mousse served in white chocolate cups.

2. Sand Banks Baco Noir Forest cupcakes with White Chocolate icing. Here we not only used the wine in the cake batter but soaked some dried cherries in the wine and put a couple in each cupcake.

3.Harbour Estates Midnight macaron. This wine a blend of is Cabernet Franc/Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot . It is bursting with flavour and makes a great buttercream icing.

4. Harbour Estates Midnight buttercream on blackberry cupcakes.

5. We finished off the night with a Peller Estates late harvest Vidal Ice Cream. This was the big hit of the night.

Our aim was to be open before the May long weekend.  We had 3-4 weeks to get everything together.  We opend the original store in less than 2 months so it seemed like plenty of time.

When we started it looked like this.

There was lots of time and elbow grease spent after we closed the bakery  scrubbing, paintng etc. 

There was also lots of fun!  Testing out different waffle recipes, topping ideas, sauces until we came up with the perfect combinations.

The Ice Cream and Waffle Haus is now open friday, saturday and sunday from 12-6. So come out and sit on our outdoor patio and enjoy a scoop of our own home made ice cream or a waffle made right in front of you. We also have a selection of cold drinks and candy inside so we hope their is a little something for everyone.

The Sweet Escape Patisserie is pleased to annouce that starting July 1st, 2010 (Canada Day) we will not only be selling Buster Rhino Products such as BBQ Sauces, Dry Rubs, etc.

Also we will be serving the product in store. So Prepare yourself for some new sandwiches here at the Sweet Escape, including authentic pulled pork and  beef brisket all on our fresh made bread.

If you need more than a sweet  we  have a selection of sandwiches made on fresh baked bread as well as soup, salad and quiche. We proudly serve Merchants of Green Coffee  fair trade organic coffee and Clipper organic fair trade teas.

We are serving up fresh made Belgian waffles and our delicious store-made ice creams and sorbets.  We also have lots of fun toppings for waffles and ice cream sundaes! Ice creams flavours change daily and range from the basic chocolate and vanilla to our signature flavours like Root Beer, Espresso Brownie, Creme Brulee and even Icewine .

Don’t forget to check in often and see what’s new.

So along with a sweet treat come try one of our sandwiches from the heart healthy Bacon and Brie on a baguette to our specialty Pear and Brie on Walnut Bread.

We also feature a vegan option for lunch as well our soup is always gluten-free and vegetarian.

So make sure you make your way through our menu and trust us when we say that it tastes even better then it looks.
